Birth Photography
Honouring the forth trimester
Birth Photography in Bendigo
For the wild, beautiful, completely raw beginning of motherhood.
Birth is wild.
It's raw and messy and emotional and powerful and sometimes nothing like you imagined it would be.
And then, somehow, in the middle of all of that, there's a tiny person in your arms.
I want to photograph that.
Not just the moment your baby arrives, but the whole story around it
the anticipation,
the intensity,
the people beside you,
the first look,
the first cuddle and those quiet hours when you finally get to take it all in.
and then comes the fourth trimester.
Why have a birth photographer?
Because you're going to be in the middle of it.
You won't see your partner's face when they first meet your baby.
You won't notice the little things happening around the room.
You won't be able to photograph yourself holding those tiny fingers for the first time.
And your partner probably won't either.
They're right there with you.
That's where I come in.
I'm there, but I'm not in the way.
I want to be a fly on the wall.
Or a person of support.
A friend.
Someone you don't mind hanging around when you're sweaty, exhausted, emotional and completely over everything.
Or, if that's what you prefer...
part of the furniture.
I'll take my cues from you.
Sometimes I'll be right there.
Sometimes I'll disappear into the background.
The goal is for you to feel comfortable enough to forget I'm holding a camera.

lets chat
You get in touch with your due date and we'll have a chat about your birth plans, what you're hoping for and what you're comfortable with.
2
Get ready
Once you're booked, we'll stay in touch as your due date gets closer. I'll be on call for around four weeks, so when things start happening, you know I'm ready too.
3
Baby time
When you're around 5cm dilated and in active labour, I'll make my way to you. I'll quietly document your birth, those first moments with your baby and stay for around an hour afterwards.

I offer payment plans, with a $199 deposit to secure your date. The remaining balance needs to be paid by 36 weeks.

As you get closer, we'll stay in touch and I'll keep an eye on where you're at so we're ready when baby decides it's time.
Babies obviously don't care about calendars, so I'm prepared for that!

That gives us time to capture those first cuddles, the first looks, tiny details and the beginning of those first few hours together.
-
That's okay.
Birth rarely follows a perfectly predictable timeline, and I'm there to document your birth, whatever that ends up looking like.
We'll chat beforehand about your preferences and I'll work alongside you, your partner and your birth team on the day.
-
You don't have to worry about that.
I want to be a fly on the wall, not another person you need to think about.
Sometimes I'll be right there. Sometimes I'll quietly stay in the background. Sometimes I'll probably feel like part of the furniture.
-
We can absolutely chat about birth photography for a planned or unplanned caesarean.
Every hospital and birth space has its own rules around photography, so we'll discuss your plans beforehand and work within whatever is permitted.
-
Yes and no ā and we'll talk about this beforehand.
Birth photography can be incredibly raw and intimate, and you get to decide what you're comfortable with.
We'll chat about your boundaries, the types of images you love and anything you'd prefer I don't photograph.
-

That said, babies are babies and sometimes they don't exactly follow the plan!
