Newborn Photography in Bendigo: The Best Time & What to Expect

Hi mamas,

There’s nothing quite like those first weeks with your new baby. The tiny fingers and toes, the newborn scrunch and the endless cuddles; it all passes in the blink of an eye. That’s why newborn photography is such a beautiful way to freeze those moments in time.

One of the biggest questions I get is:

“When’s the best time to book newborn photos?”

The Ideal Window: 7–21 Days Old

I usually recommend booking your newborn session when your little one is between 7–21 days old. At this stage, babies are still sleepy, flexible, and happy to curl up on mum and dad.
They’re often easier to soothe, which means we can capture those dreamy, peaceful images.

But please don’t worry if you miss that window! Babies of all ages are going to have a gorgeous session and I’ll adapt the session to suit them, whether they’re wide-eyed, smiling, or snuggled up

Where We Do the Session

Many of my newborn sessions take place in your home, here in Bendigo or the surrounding towns. Home sessions are relaxed, cosy, and personal, your baby’s environment is familiar, and you don’t need to pack everything up.

If you prefer an outdoor session, we can choose a quiet location around Bendigo with soft light and safe, peaceful vibes. It all depends on what feels most comfortable for your family.

What to Expect During Your Session

Plenty of time – newborn shoots aren’t rushed. Feeding, cuddling, changing, and settling breaks are part of the flow.

Gentle, baby-led posing – I don’t force stiff positions. Your baby leads the way, I have some fancy swaddles to wrap them up to keep baby nice and snug and we can stop at any time for feeds and nappy changes

Family included – partners and siblings (including dogs) are always welcome in the session. It’s about your family story, not just baby alone

Why Bendigo Families Love Newborn Photography

Life with a newborn can feel like a blur, but having photos to look back on gives you something tangible to hold onto. My newborn photography sessions here in Bendigo are designed to be relaxed, stress-free, and truly reflective of your family

If you’re expecting, now is the perfect time to book your newborn session. Reach out while you’re still pregnant, and I’ll reserve time around your due date so we don’t miss those fleeting early moments
